I just bought my 2nd Pomeroy from Don.
This is a (in his words) "bare bones" oval hole A, to join my 2 point violin style built in 2018.
His fit and finish and choice of woods is wonderful. I've had too many oval holes where the lower strings just boom...the sound hole adds a bassy shape filling in the lower octaves creating a solid core, with nice ringing higher octave overtones.
Don calls this "bare bones"..I call it simple, but full of expression: tortoise around the sound hole and top binding. A pretty yellow-orange color to the wood with lots of vibrations and overtones.
His hand made mandolins have got to be the steal of all time as you get so much for what you pay for.
