Default Get up John/ split tuning, with Sierra Hull improvising

i have never played this tuning but it sounds really neat, and ironically i was going to post a thread asking about different tunings on mandolin, this evening. this may have already made its rounds here on the cafe, first time i have watched it.

golly gee whiz, she is a monster player, flat out not of this planet player. every time i hear/watch her she's better, faster, stronger.

That was fun. Interesting watching her Django fingers, just flapping the breeze for the most part. Didn't slow her (or Django) any.

    thanks

The more videos of Sierra Hull I watch the more amazed I am at her talent. Arguably one of the best mandolinist/multi-instrumentalist in the world.

That was great. The Bill Monroe biography by Tom Ewing mentions the various alternate tunings Monroe used and played around with. Probably reason enough to buy more mandolins. Haha

exactly what I was thinking last night after watching the video the 1st time. I could be real happy with this split tuning and having one mandolin kept in it I do believe(actually going to do that with one of mine, I don't need to buy another one, but now I feel ok buying 2 in a month or so from TMS a while back, makes sense totally now-lol)

Sierra was at the Barter Theatre, Bristol Va(an hour 15 min from my house) in Jan 2020, she did this before the show as a warm up for a couple of us.

Love this tuning. Have wrote several tunes with this particular tuning as well as other Monroe cross-tunings. This one is my favorite though.
