A customer/friend had her mandolin stolen from her house a couple of years ago, an Old Wave she'd worn the finish off the back of the neck playing for 20 years. Made her another that she liked as much, but decades of bonding is not easily broken. Last Saturday an elderly gent called me from her town for info on a mando he'd just bought at a yard sale. He collects inexpensive instruments to fix and pass on to folks who teach kids, but this seemed too nice. Long story short, I hooked them up and she bought her stolen mando back from him for what he'd paid for it- $8! She laughed when I told her she'd paid too much! Talked to her repairman as he replaced the bridge, we agreed it could not have happened to a nicer human being! One word came to both of us- karma!
