Default nice comparison of two NF Big Mons-englemann vs Red spruce tops

I have watched Derek play before, he has a smooth, clear, precise touch. Nice mandolins both, a person would be quite happy with either I think

Really nice comparison. Would be hard to decide which I'd want. Both sound really good.

There is a sweetness to the Englemann but the cut is with the Red Spruce. Depends on what kind of music you are playing.

The red spruce just had more power, depth and character. That’d be an easy decision for me.
Northfield sure is making some great mandolins!

    FWIW
I have a MT2-V with a red spruce top. It is 11 yrs old and I picked it up used.
It still has the drive and pop of the Northfield with Red Spruce, but now it also has developed a warm rich complexity that is so wonderful. After having this instrument I would likely always look for a Red Spruce topped mandolin if ever I was to buy another.
Regarding the Northfield Big Mon with Redspruce? I too favor this over englemann. It just appeals to my ear more.
