Default Is this a Wegen pick?

Hi all - while reorganizing pick sampler #2, I’ve run across an interesting one that I think may be a Wegen. I’ve sent a query to Michel, but thought I’d ask the MC community as well (somebody must have added it to the sampler). The pick in question is in the center below: Click image for larger version.

The material looks to be the same as the black Wegens, but has only four holes. The clear silicone pads are on both sides, but may be an “aftermarket” addition.

Thanks for any help or interesting trivia you may care to share.

    - Denis

Gonna guess no. But, I’ve pretty much only owned TF 120 and 140s, so I could be wrong. The glossiness of the material appears to be higher then the Wegens, though I obviously don’t have them in hand to compare…

Another "no". Have had the bluegrass style pick on the left since they were introduced. Never seen one from Wegen like the middle pick.

Another no. Been using Wegen picks for years and it doesn't look right to me. That being said I have had Michel make me a few custom thickness picks and it could be he made a custom pick for someone, so there is that.

I got a reply from Michel Wegen this morning and it’s not a Wegen. Michel pointed out the breaking spot (yellow circle below) showing that it’s an injection molded pick rather than hand-made like Wegens.

I do like the little silicon pads, so intend to get some to use on my Wegens and other favorite picks.

I still have no idea what brand of pick this is, so will stick it in with all the other unlabeled examples.

Thanks to those of you who responded!

I agree. The middle one is not a Wegen.

The little silicone pads are called Monster Grips, and they are great. I have them on most of my picks, including Wegens (the holes just don't give me the grip I want). Been using them for years.

The Monster Grips website shows everything “Out of Stock”, so I went ahead and got something similar off eBay. We’ll see how well they hold up.
