Default Our version of David Grisman's 'Ricochet' / quarantine video

Just wanted to share this project I was fortunate to be a part of. My best buddy, Brian 'Willie' Williams figured the three mandolin parts to Ricochet, one of the tunes I've dreamed of playing since I first heard the Dawg. Then he drafted some fine musicians. Then each of us learned our part, recorded and video'ed them, and sent them to Willie. This is the result. Most of the details are below the video in the link, but Carter (first harmony mando) is playing a Dude, Willie (lead mando) is playing a Henderson, I'm (second harmony mando) playing a 2015 Duff, the guitarist is playing a Henderson guitar, and not sure what Mr. Bass is playing.

Hope you enjoy, it was so much fun doing my part and came together well, but most of the credit goes to Willie.

    Chris

Excellent job! Deceptively difficult tune to play and have it sound good. Very nice!
Co-Written by Richard Somers btw, really cool dude himself that I got to meet at Bibey Camp last year.

Thanks, everyone for your kind words!

We used The Amazing Slow Downer (Willie, paid app) and Audacity (me, free) to slow the tune down and pick out the parts. Not easy with 3 mandos, but Willie is a genius at this and I am learning. It's a really good exercise in learning tunes, I find. I use headphones and my computer/audacity. I find for the dawg stuff that figuring out workable chords and shapes are really the hardest part.

And yeah, Drew, Willie did find out about Richard Somers! Very cool.

If anybody wants to learn this without doing quite as much hard work, Mike Marshall does a very thorough breakdown of all three parts in his ArtistWorks class
