In case any jazz buffs miss this fine and enjoyable piece from Mark Stoffel & Co. on today's home page:

Added later: I don't want to take away from the fact that Mark is promoting a new album. For more of his music:

Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

Definitely in the mood for this tune - done masterfully! My parents loved big band music and would be caught sometimes playing this on our stereo and dancing. We kids always thought it was so square, but I find that I'm drifting more and more into the swing genre in my own playing. Both parents have passed, but I'm sure that they are still dancing to "In the Mood" somewhere.

One of my favorite Glenn Miller tunes, played well by the whole group. Tasty!

Just like John above, my parents lived through the big band era, and I hated the stuff as a kid, but now love it. I remember doing an arrangement of "In the Mood" on mountain dulcimer at a dulcimer festival years ago, and getting a whole bunch of strange looks from the other participants . . ..
