Case? Mine came in a Cedar Creek. Great case but it still stinks of glue ten years on. Enjoy!

So the Octave came in last Friday. Just lovely! Had a bass gig that night, so couldn't really play it until after the gig. My coworkers did get to hear a little wafting music through our area though (better than the time I received a banjo at work, I think it scared some folks to hear banjo music drifting down the halls ).

I'm quite smitten. Very happy with my design choices, and ready to put in the work to integrate it into the rotation.

Case is nice, though I have left it open for a while to air out the new-case smell a bit.

Here's a pic Austin sent me before it was packed for shipping:

Here's the entire family, representing 30 years or os of instrument gathering. Feels a bit excessive, but all of them (other than the little Weymann that was my first mando and a family heirloom) get used regularly:

The OM looks like a standout new member of the family. Congratulations.

So for the last few weeks I've pretty much been constantly playing this new octave. It's addicting. After a few weeks of letting it settle in I did get it to my guitar guy for a little setup adjustment. Needed the nut slots brought down just a touch. I was without it for a few days and genuinely found myself reaching for it, only to find the stand empty.

Looks great, sounds great, plays great. Can't ask for more.

Have done one gig with it so far, and it will be a nice addition. I don't regret going without the cutaway, the instrument sounds so good and the access to those frets is perfectly fine for what I do. That said, it does fret cleanly up there so if someone was wanting that extra access the cutaway would be useful.

These are not cheap by any standard, but if you're interested I would encourage you to contact Austin and make it happen.
