Thread: Learn to shred on this, or sell it?

Default Learn to shred on this, or sell it?

Sorry this is my first post here, but what the heck am I looking at here?

I'm a guitar player but this is the coolest stringed instrument I now have in my possession. I figured it's a Banjo Mandolin / Banjolin, but can't find a single one like this with a hexagonal resonator, even after an hour of Google searching. Saw a french one that looked like it was on this level of craftsmanship, but can't find it again now..

I had my aunt take some professional photos as I am 90% sure I'm selling it unless you guys can talk me out of it. Deep down I think I should just keep it as it looks badass and is a great conversation starter, but then I'd have to learn to play it

    Cheers!
    Chris

That's awesome in a very weird way! I'd say hold on to it, play it till you want a 'normal' mandolin and keep it for historical purposes.

That's neat! I'd probably keep it. Its unique and doesn't take up too much room.

Well, it looks very distinctive. Yet at the same time the banjo-mandolin has a distinctive tone and playing character. If you want to learn, I'd be tempted to suggest get something more conventional so as to appreciate what a mandolin can do.

Clearly something special insofar as it appears to also have a case - an extremely rare beast!
