Hi -- does anyone have a Zerega mandolin? They are 19th century, and usually have a label signed E. Zerega. I'm looking to buy one, but I'd be interested in any case to see
any owners' photos.

Any reason why you are interested in this particular maker?
I don't own any but I collect jpegs for reference. This is the only one I have in my files which was sold on eBay in 2011.
From the description in the listing:
Here is one of the best-inlaid early mandolins I've seen. The label inside reads "Made Expressly for and Under Direction of E. Zerega, 152 Brompton Road London". It is also signed "E. Zergea 1892". There is heavy inlaying around the bowl, headstock, soundhole and edge. The bowl has 32 pieces of Rosewood separated by a thin strip of metal. Top is Spruce.

Thanks Jim -- that's a beautiful instrument. I like the fact that these mandolins are signed and dated, as I'm interested in the social history of that late 19th century period. David
You could post in the wanted section of the classifieds.
Thanks Nevin.
Many of the makers of that period signed their mandolin labels although sometimes they also signed inside the body. My 1904 Embergher has the maker's signature inside the bowl.
Ah, I see: Eduardo Zerega's Spanish Troubadours.

I'm a sucker for all things "Z" and now want one!
Along with a Z-mandolin, a Zimnicki, a Zeta...
