    Default RIP Billy Joe Shaver

Died yesterday in Waco, Texas. He wrote practically everything on the Waylon Jennings seminal outlaws album, "Honky Tonk Heroes". A Texas singer songwriter, he was a gentle soul who lived a lot of what he wrote. There'll never be another one like him; he'll be greatly missed. "Go down evening sun..." RIP Billy Joe.

Fast Train to GA and Live Forever are staples in my repertoire. He will live in my memory as long as I have one.

He could sure raise some emotion with his words and that raspy voice. 2020 has been really hard on songwriters.

At 81, Billy Joe had a good run, but will certainly be missed. Two songs I love to play, “I’m Just An Old Chunk Of Coal” which marked his finding Jesus and “Live Forever”, which he certainly will, both in heaven and thru his music. RIP
