    Default Chief Francis O'Neill documentary

I was doing some research and fact checking on Francis O'Neill for this month's tune of the month over in the Newbies group and I came across a 30 minute documentary produced by the Chicago PBS affiliate in 2014 on his life and his influence on Irish music.

You can find it here: By the way, there is a very nice documentary on Francis O'Neill and his prominent place in Irish music. It was produced at WTTW-TV, a Chicago Public Broadcasting System station. https://www.pbs.org/video/wttw-docum...rancis-oneill/

Thanks, Hank. That was really interesting. Seems like the captain was a well-rounded fellow.

"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

This guy is currently working on a project called All Of O'Neill's 1001, the goal being to completely record
all of O'Neill's collection of 1001 tunes (on flutes and tenor banjo).

Loved it! Only disappointment was that Liz Carrol didn’t get more than a snippet.
