    Smile Astor Piazzola on Mandolin

A year ago, the orchestra I play with in Athens Greece (MandolinARTE) performed its last concert before the pandemic (ahhhh good times).

Anyway, we played a beautiful piece of music from the great Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla named Preparense that is relatively unknown. It was arranged beautifully for us by August Watters (thnak you August!).

I think that the music of Piazzolla is great on the mandolin, and just to prove it (I hope) here is the clip of our performance we just uploaded!

If you like it remember to subscribe to our channel as we intend to post more videos soon! Here it is :

I just realized that I should have posted this to another category, I guess I got confused with the "Video" in the title of the category...apologies...

I like that lonely A-style among all the bowlbacks.

I especially enjoyed the A style, sunburst electric pickup/controls mandolin. I am quite serious. Great music has been played on "unlikely" instruments.

Kudos to August Watters. An excellent performance.

    Thanks for posting this Chris.

Very cool! I was ok with the A-style until I saw it was electric

Nicely done, loved all the sonic textures and the feel of the piece!
I should be pickin' rather than postin'

the bowed Bass Viol and Cello do seem to dominate & carry stronger than the row of mandolins in the recording..

but a nice effort closer Mic-ing the mandolin section may have helped ..
