A new way of hearing a mandolin orchestra

An email newsletter fro the Fretboard Journal mentioned a new recording by Canadian singer/songwriter Kevin Breit (who I had not previously come across). One interesting thing about this recording is that all the instrumental backing to the 30 (!) songs are done on mandolin family instruments (other than a string bass), played by Kevin Breit in various combinations with different singers for each of the songs. Yes! Just had a listen last night. Fantastic layering of mandolins! Great to hear the contemporary songs done this way. Because of all the free streaming music out there, I don’t purchase many albums, but this was an immediate buy, and I wanted to support this talented artist!
