Thread: Tenor Guitar Tuners NMC

    Default Tenor Guitar Tuners NMC

I have an old tenor guitar with these worthless Grover banjo tuners that don't work. Turn them to tune up, let go, and string tension spins them out of tune. What are my options? Can I just put some regular single guitar tuners on? Even if there's a way to fix them, I'd rather just replace them and never see them again.

I have never liked that style tuner.....a lot of folks insist on them on tenor guitars. I replaced the ones on my old Regal with some individual Waverly Uke tuners from StewMac and have been very happy with them. The part number I bought was #4081 (with ebony knobs). Not inexpensive but very nice quality. Watch the headstock thicknesses on whatever you order.

Or you could go all the way to Waverly banjo tuners.

Anything Waverly is worth more than this old hog tenor. Those Grover uke tuners look like just the ticket. They even make them with taller posts for thicker headstocks.
