The SKB doesn't fit the short neck Gibson As. I found out the expensive way

Epiphone do a really nice one that fits like a charm:

The 8851 has a neck cradle and is a half inch shorter in the body length because of this. It is also 10.5" wide instead of 10" for the 8853. Measure your mandolin and look at the specifications of each to see what would work best for you.

I'm having the same issue trying to find a modern case for an F4.

I'd really love a good recommendation WITH a photo showing how well it fits

I have a Gator ABS case which will take an A or F style mandolin.

The shorter necked early Gibson oval holes? Have you tried one of those in it? Thanks

I would just call up a place like Elderly or The Mandolin Store and ask them. They have surely dealt with old F4s before.

Just heard back from the Mandolin Store. They have nothing to fit. We'll see what Elderly comes back with.

Late reply, but just to say thanks a heap to Jim & co for pointing me to the right case. The TKL joint fits great & got the black 1916 A home from overseas in one piece.
