I was trying to follow a thread that had photos from photobucket embeded and was not able to view them. Is that a forum issue or do I have to have a photobucket subscription?

It's probably neither. If it's an old thread the person may not have the images up anymore. Can you give me the link so I can look at it?

It is in builders and repair. It is a thread about restoring a white face A3 by spruce. It came up recently, but I see it was posted Aug 31 2015, so yes it is an old thread.

Bruce removed access to his pictures years ago. It's not you.

Possibly relevant - in 2017 there was a Photobucket fiasco and monumental PR disaster, where the clueless Photobucket management started charging $400 per month to allow hotlinking (posting pictures to other websites) for Photobucket accounts that had previously been free, regardless of whether you had 3 pictures or lots of pictures. If you didn't pay up, they blocked all your pictures from displaying on other websites.
That caused lots of missing images all over the internet, and resulted in tons of royally ticked-off "never again" former Photobucket users.
While many people moved their pics to somewhere else instead of Photobucket, there was still the problem of not being able to edit old forum posts to update the links to the pictures... assuming that people could even remember all the various forums and websites and threads they'd posted pictures in over the years.
I just saw today that, allegedly, Photobucket *later* (in 2018) tried to reverse course, trying to entice back the users who had fled the sinking ship in droves earlier. The reversal is news to me, I hadn't heard about that until now, possibly because after the initial $400/month news I set my email filters to automatically send all Photobucket emails straight to the trash where they belong IMO lol. I wouldn't have taken them up on their offer anyway because I didn't trust that company anymore, and other arrangements had already long since been made for the tiny miniscule number (less than a couple dozen) small low-res pics I'd previously had on Photobucket.
The above-described infamous Photobucket boondoggle may or may not be the reason for the missing pics described by the OP, but it's a possibility.
OK thanks. That is why I tend to view the "free use" offers with much suspicion. I have never seen a white face A so I found the thread interesting, and would have liked to see the pictures.

If you're not paying for the product, you are the product.
