Thread: Help with identification

    Default Help with identification

    Found this 4 string instrument in original case.
    No serial number or model name as far as I can see.
    There is a lion
    With British Made beneath.
    Maker is G.H. & S with Trade Mark written beneath.
    The back is engraved (etched?) on a white metal (steel)? Pretty design all over of flower, vines and fleur de lis in the centre round.
    I can take pics but can’t see how to upload on here.

    Whatever it is, it is probably a George Houghton & Son banjo uke- a Melody Junior. The lion dates it to the 1930s- from about 1934 on. Here is one which is probably not the same model:
