    Question 1920/1930 Supertone Mandolin

I have a Supertone Mandolin that someone gave me 15 years ago or so. It has been in cold storage since and I just realized what I had. I have looked on line for pic to match it to be nothing is exact. Mine is a style no. 312. It has inlaid edges and the top and bottom of the body and has the sound hole inlaid. inlaid pick guard. It has inlaid down the center of the back. I have 3 inlaid dot on the 7th and 12th frets. Do you know what year this might be and what it may be worth? Whatever its worth I’m keeping it and playing it. Well learning it again lol. Oh it has no nut or bridge and one side of the tuners are gone the ones that are there are not working. The Tail piece cover is not there also. Any info on how to get original or older parts are welcome. Thanks for your time.

You really need to post some photos. Here is a Supertone ad from the 20s. There is a style 312 & 1/4 which is called the Viol which is not your mandolin, I am sure. Old parts for mandolins- tuners and tailpiece covers can be found on eBay but it can take time- it depends how rare the parts you seek might be, but they are out there.

Also, no need to post in multiple places for the same questions. I replied to your other thread with a link on how to post photos.

My tuners are not mounted on the head stock they are recessed in the head with a backing plate. I need two sets of tuners that are the exact specs of the ones that used to be there. Any advice on where to get them?

Post some photos and carefully measure the distance between centers of the posts so you can tell people selling parts. Most of these Supertones are not excessively valuable so if you have problems finding exact replacement tuners you could fill the routed out areas and redrill for modern tuners.

Click on Go Advanced and then on the top bar, next to the smiley face, there is a paperclip icon. Click on that and you can download photos from your folders.

    Click on Go Advanced
That button is below the message you are writing. Then click on the "Manage Attachments" button. That will be below the message you are typing after that. Look for the "Add Files" button in the upper right hand corner and follow the prompts.

Brian: If on the iphone you are on the mobile version scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and it will say "Log Out | Full Site | Top". Click on Full Site and you should see what you would see on any computer. Then click on the 3rd icon from the right above the message window to upload one photo.
