Default Anybody heading to Carter Vintage this week?

They have a couple of mandolins I'd like an opinion on. I'm in New Zealand, so not an option to visit.

Have tried to reach them by email, but not getting any reply. Perhaps they're closed currently.

    Thanks,
    John.

Right now, due to COVID, they are open by appointment only. Only one guest per appointment.

Makes sense. Not the best time to be mandolin shopping I guess.

Maybe I can help you. If you tell me what you need to know and the particular instruments, then I can make an appointment and do some "investigation" for you. FYI: the mandolins listed on Carters website is probably only 1/2 of what they carry in the store. There is an wall of less expensive mandolins in the main room. I never know what they have in stock until I visit the store. I usually start with the less expensive mandolins (under $5k) in the main room, then I move into the back room where the more expensive (over $5k) mandolins are hanging. I'd be glad to help if I can.

Update. Heard back from Carters. The two I was interested in are non-starters - one sold, and one not a great player.

    Will keep looking. Thanks everyone.
