    Default Harp Seal's Castel

Harp Sealī s Castel for Merlin
My own compositions. When composing, I was inspired by the construction of the castle that was done by my sons for their soft toys.

Very nice, Ondrej. I sent it on to my Merlin-playing stepdaughter.

(And I like your English carol about the Czech king, that followed on YouTube.)

"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

    Ranald, thank you!

Yes, the English carol about the Czech king is nice. I sang it for the first time when I started learning English. Not much is known in the Czech Republic.

You have a personal style in your composing, Ondrej. Your tunes are very evocative.
Great sound from that instrument and I see it seems to be fretted differently - not in half tones but more like a dulcimer?
The soft toys seem to have left the castle to listen to your playing.

John, thank you for the compliment.

Merlin is a combination of guitar and dulcimer. http://www.seagullguitars.com/en/products/m4

Yes, the soft toy came to listen to my playing

King Wenceslas is one of the more popular carols in the English-speaking world. When my partner is leading Christmas singsongs, people always requests it, and everyone sings heartily. Here's the story of how English-speakers came to sing a song about a Czech king on the day after Christmas (the song's not as old as I thought):

For others, here's Ondrej's "Good King Wenceslas":
