    Default International shipping: any recommendations

    Hi,
I’m in a situation where I have to ship a mandolin via air transport and preferably with insurance from the States to Australia.

I was wondering if any of you had any experience of a similar requirements and recommendation about a dispatcher etc.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Bc

You might check with a luthier in your area. They probably run into this occasionally.

Other than that, the usual suspects - FedEx, UPS or DHL.

I shipped a doubleneck Gibson in Case to New Zealand from western Canada. Expensive , By air $500.00 plus insurance up to a grand. I hope the US is better.

I am in the process at the moment with a State side seller. But when going through UPS ( even through OZ) you have to get the seller to sort out the paper work and find out the costings first. Then you send over the $$'s to them and they haveto pay for it. Then the seller sends it on to you. If the item is over the $1000 mark then you might get hit with GST and inport duty as well - so look out for that. I have that to contend with when the my mandolin gets here in two weeks.

I sold a tenor banjo to a guy in New York, Fed Ex picked it up in Bradford West Yorkshire on a Thursday morning and delivered it in New York on the following Saturday,

2 days, doesn't get much better than that.
