Not so much a solid body electric as a gaseous no-body electric.

I bet it sounds real "open"

I kind of like it. Reminds me of other electric instruments which eschew physical resemblance to their acoustic predecessors. Think of all the shapes of electric guitars, as well as some electric violins, and also some basses and cellos which are essentially slabs of wood with strings, magnets, frets (or not), tuners, and whatever electronics are called for. There's the Chapman Stick, for instance, John Fogerty's baseball bat guitar, many others. This at least makes an attempt to reference the traditional shape - an approach I've seen in some electric guitars and violins as well. It seems to me the builder might as well have made it an F model with a scroll - the additional labor involved in doing so with metal or plastic (whatever material was used) is much less complex than with wood. Plus the F shape is much more futuristic, and it has that ready-made strap hanger.
I'm guessing this is a homemade instrument of a prototype without a headstock logo. Any indication from the pinterest page?

Bet it has a hollow sound.
Electric Mandolin isn't my thing but a few people recommended them over on the Telecaster Forum when I first asked about Mandolins over there.
I actually like the jack for the cord. Pretty impressive with the port through the side for the cord. Well thought out.

Does look well turned out and tasteful.
But I can't be sure about the tone bars...
Yeessss - and their string sale pages go round in circles without leading you to an ecommerce page or a price. When you click on a string packet you get a Pinterest logo coming up, same with the guitars. It looks like what - a site under construction, or maybe something that was never launched?
Looks like a web aggregating site. Designed to generate clicks and traffic before selling on the domain? Probably shows as uk because your browser is identified as being in the UK. Theoriginal image seems to have been hoovered up from Pinterest. I would ask the mods to delete the link above if you can no longer edit it.

What? No one made a joke about it opening up quickly?
Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like it has a very wide neck at the nut—looks like more than 1-1/4", maybe even 1-1/2".

I searched for that image and found it on a Pinterest page belonging to Michael Reichenbach, an MCer who's site is MandoIsland.de
It seems to be on a ukulele site called Lardy's but I can't find it on that site either.

For future reference, I believe you have three hours' worth of access to editing on a post, then it's permanent.

Yamaha recently made some classical and steel string guitars like this. They promoted them as quiet for practice.
For all you players who responded to the recent thread regarding spousal support, this might be your ticket.
If the thread you are referencing is the one about a "good mandolin player's spouse," then I would infer such an approach would be unnecessary. These are spouses who accept, support, and even encourage mandolin players as they are, without having to adjust to their druthers. Or so I understand.
