Default Invention in D Minor BWV 775

Another installment of trying to learn some short Bach Inventions (so that the solo violin partitas and sonatas don't eat me alive).

Had a blast putting this video together. Got a motorized slider and decided to have fun with it. Enjoy!

    Equipment used:

    Mandolin: 2017 Nugget F5
Octave Mandolin: 2020 Northfield Maple Archtop Octave Mandolin
Recorded using a Shure KSM32 into a Scarlett interface.
Mandolinist for Henhouse Prowlers and Westbound Situation

Ah, this is great! We put together an arrangement of this in my trio for mandolin, mandola, and bass-mandolin (different from a mandobass). So much fun to play!
    My Instruments:
    Ellis Twin Point #524
    My beloved Old Wave #83
    Herb Taylor Bouzouki #228
    Mid-Mo M1 #4321 and M14 #176 (my first mandos)
    Scuderi #001 OM Model Guitar
Plus a fiddle, a viola, a cello, another guitar, and (worryingly) three bagpipes.

Now I have to ask, what's the difference from bass-mandolin to mandobass?!

So a mandobass is the historical instrument built by Gibson in the 19-teens (i think I’m recalling that correctly?) as the bass member for mandolin orchestras, tuned like an actual double bass. According to a friend who owned one, they’re not that great.

A bass mandolin, meanwhile, seems to possibly be the invention of my band mate, who took an old Sobell mandocello that was falling apart and had it converted to a 4-string instrument tuned an octave below an octave mandolin. It works pretty well!
