Ah yes - John Paul Jones. I saw one article about Jimmy Page's double neck in which the author said something like, "You think that's something? Check out JPJ's triple neck mandolin." I like that, making the mandolin the star attraction.

Anyway, speaking of Lief Sorbye and his double-neck ... here's how to get the most out of it:

Not really sure. The seller turned out to be a bit persnickety and I got leery of the whole mishegas, so I worked out a deal with mrmando, who lives a lot closer to the seller and also had some bureaucratic know-how with Canadian transactions. I'd pretty much forgotten about it until just now when I was looking for a place to post this mighty fine photo of Lief Sorbye and a bandmate doubling up on his double-neck. Or does he really have four hands? Now I'm kinda curious, too ...

Totally missed the mandolin -- saw a picture of two dudes wearing skirts....(not that there's anything wrong with that!)

    Stage clothes, tradition, or ???

I was tempted to start a new thread, as Leif Sorbye of Tempest probably deserves one, but I'm not conversant enough with his music to feel right about it. But this just came in, so I had to share, and picked the most recent thread that mentions him.

From his facebook page, with the amusing caption, "In honor of Labour Day I should be changing strings on all my instruments… Mando Madness!" Hope he thought better of it - that would make for not the most fun holiday. How long would it take to change 80 strings?

PS: I included the link because of the info - and humor - to be found there.
