Would like to hear from people who have played both. One thing of great importance to me is the feel of the neck. I've owned an MT and the neck is perfect for me. Ive never played a Northfield M so I'm wondering if anyone knows of the difference in feel of the neck.
Of course, the sound of the mandolin is of greatest importance, followed by comfortability.
I can get a 2006 MT for the same money as a new Northfield Model M, $2500
Opinions welcome.
BTW, this is not a "want ad" as this is not the classifieds, but I've noticed in the past it is not uncommon to receive PMs from a post like this offering to help locate an instrument, so I just want to say here I am happy to receive those, but please do not PM me about wide nuts and such. I like the regular neck and fretboard feel of Collings instruments and Kentucky instruments, and I've never tried nor would I buy sight unseen a wide neck. I dislike the chunky necks of Eastman instruments. Hoping someone who has played both the Northfield and the Collings has advise on the neck differences, if any. Thanks.
