Many of you will be familiar with my Celtic mandolins - they're pretty nice.
But they're also pretty big. For the last few years I've supplied them in a nice, affordable plywood case I used to buy from Germany. The case was actually a mandola case, but the fit was excellent. This year I ordered a box of the cases and when they turned up the design and shape was totally different. The company had switched suppliers and I couldn't get cases to fit. Bah.
All was not lost - I found a case the right size and had custom foam inserts laser cut to fit the mandolins. But this has meant a prettty big price increase on those lovely big Celtic mandolins of mine as the cases cost three times what they did.
So, I thought I'd go back to the old Sobell size Celtic mandolin and design one that would fit in a standard Hiscox case. I've just completed the body and have been testing it out to check the fit:
So pretty soon there should be a new addition to the range.
Stay tuned!
