Default Excellent Musical Documentary Now Playing - It Was The Music

Hey Folks, I have been caught up on one of the best music documentaries that I have seen in a long time. It is called “It was the Music” and follows the musical lives of Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams. Larry was a sideman for Dylan, Levon Helm, and a bunch of others. He and Teresa are married and have been touring together. Lots of really good music and interviews with many folks you know. Yes, there are some occasional mandolin appearances.
It is on Amazon Prime and Vimeo. You do have to pay for it but definitely worth the cost. So far I am on episode 5 and am trying to make the series last. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYcLCNMFEO0

Great news, I'm a fan of Larry's, but was unaware of this! Larry is an awesome multi-instrumentalist, and sometimes played mandolin behind Dylan on tour. I've been into his fiddle playing and fingerstyle guitar playing for some time. Will definitely watch this, thanks for the heads up.

I wonder why it's not free. I'm new to this watching-movies-and-TV-shows-on-your-computer routine, but since my cell phone company provides Amazon Prime free, I've been checking it out a bit. Started with "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," then "Fleabag," pre-lockdown, and since have revisited them both. During the last couple of weeks I've been watching the 2017 Grateful Dead documentary "Long Strange Trip" - highly recommended, especially for the early years. I've gotten used to watching stuff for free; this is the first time I've seen PPV on Prime. Sigh ... Oh well!

I had nearly lost touch of what a big Tracy Nelson fan I was. Loved that there was actual video from the "Country" sessions after only seeing the album photo's for all these years.

I'll bet. Just trying to talk myself into it. Limited funds these days ...

Tracy Nelson - yes, words fail. I'll never forget the thrill I got bumping into her backstage at a show. She wasn't even playing, she was just ... there. And then nearly 20 years later, connecting on facebook. She's still at it - as well she should be.

And the bonus was Toad Andrews on guitar. He'd play eloquent blues solos with his teeth.

You're chipping away at my resolve. Yeah - Mother Earth was a very interesting band. "Living With The Animals" and "Make A Joyful Noise" got a lot of play back in the day, as well as Tracy's solo album, "Tracy Nelson Country." I learned a lot about what good country music was from that album.
