    Default Muth F-Style

This is my brand new Muth F-style. (#M127 Completed December 2020). Judging by the other Muth threads here on the Cafe, some of you already know that Larry Muth builds some world-class mandolins out of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. There's something in the water over there because that's where you'll also find Peter Sawchyn, another well-regarded builder.

I've never met Larry and know him by reputation only, but I sent him an email through his website a few weeks ago to enquire about getting an F built. He told me he actually had 2 F-styles sitting in his workshop ready to go and based on only pictures and a few very detailed emails from Larry, I rolled the dice and had him ship me #127. The only reason I chose this one over the other, is this one has a more traditional headstock although Larry's own original headstock design is also very cool.

I could not be happier with my Muth. I've only been playing on and off for about 18-months, and compared to the 25-30 other mandolins I've sampled, this one has the secret sauce. It arrived perfectly setup with a chime and a chop second to none and that woody bottom end you feel in your chest.

I have no affiliation, I'm just a very satisfied Muth Mandolins customer.

I had Larry build me one back 2006. It's a wonderful mandolin. Larry used to have property in Chilliwack, BC where he spent his winters. He was a neighbor of Michael Heiden. They spent a lot of time collaborating on mandolin building. Larry makes great mandolins at very reasonable prices. /Al Meyer

Hi F-D, The same week I got my new Muth F-style I found one of his early (1996) A-styles and grabbed that one as well. It's also a fantastic instrument. That's it on the right.
