Default Adrian Gross - 8th of January

Here’s the “8th of January.” For anyone out there looking to explore fiddle tunes and all things mandolin, give me a shout at adrian@adriangross.ca to take some lessons. If you’re looking to fulfill that New Year’s resolution, or want tips on how to keep your mandolin in tune at -15º, I’m your man!

I’ll send this one out to the great Tony Rice, who was one of the reasons I first got into bluegrass. I learnt this tune off his 1977 self-titled album. The best recordings capture those special little moments that you can’t plan, and this track (and album in general) is full of them. Check out Rice’s rhythm playing right after his guitar solo, as the fiddle solo kicks off. The whole band gets a real lift, and it’s a testament to how uniquely awesome Rice’s rhythm playing was. Thanks for all the music Tony Rice.

    As always, thanks for watching.

Looks cold. Lots of snow. -15 degrees? Brrrrrrrr
And I thought it was chilly here in NH

    Great music, though, thanks!
