Default Loose “traditional style” tailpiece cover

A slightly loose tail piece cover has a tendency to rock slightly if disturbed by wrist action. This results in a light pinging on the strings. Two possible solutions: pulling the flanges on the base part slightly outward or squeezing the flanges on the top slightly inward. I suppose I could just add grommets, but the cover has a cork strip dampener.

    I fear unintended consequences.

    Thoughts?

I usually bend one or both to make it fit well yet come off easily. Take your time and bend only slightly until it is where you want it.

+1 for pops1. I've had them too tight and did the opposite. Be careful as to not damage/scratch anything. I use needle nose pliers and cover the mando with an old t-shirt. And take my time!!
