Default A new GBOM source: Lyn Hardy

On a visit to my Lyn Hardy's Woodstock, NY workshop yesterday for some small repairs, I had a chance to try out one of her beautiful new octave mandolins on what looked to be a body in the size of Martin's no. 5. The scale length was about 21 3/4 I think she said and it sounded as great as the videos she's been sharing to her facebook page made me think they would. Not sure on price but just wanted to make others aware in case someone's in the market! NFI; Lyn has done right by me in solving the headaches of four different instruments in the past two years so wanted to spread word of her great work.

Lyn is one of a very small group of luthiers I will always recommend. I did see online photos and listened to the FB videos. They sound very nice and IIRC are reasonably priced for a small shop handmade instrument. I wish i could visit and try one out soon but it will be a few months at least.

I have one of those octave mandos - bought it from Lyn a few weeks ago. They're cool. I'll see if I can post a pic. If this comes thru that's Lyn's octave on the right, a standard scale Weber Sage octave on the left.

Those are so very good looking and I absoutly love the sound. Does any one know the brand of the small heavy duty tail piece on two of the ones pictured?

I have to ask is Lyn any relation to the Lyn Hardy who was married to fiddler Jay Ungar?
She certainly looks like she knows her stuff!

One and the same! I have greatly valued your book by the way, Dagger.
