    Default First Time Builder

My friend (professional carpenter with a full shop) and I will soon be starting our first builds of an A and a F style build. We have plans and and woods. I am looking for advice regarding tuners, bridges and tailpieces. We have availability of some used parts if we desire. My question is should we decide to buy new, what would you advise? I’m thinking best quality at a reasonable price.

For tuners, a lot of builders are using Rubner tuners...

Rubners are awesome. I've found Grover 309s to be very smooth and solid at half the price. Bridges can make a big difference in sound. Cumberland Acoustics is the gold standard there. I have some cheaper adjustable bridges you can have for initial set-up if you want them. For tailpieces, I can't really advise you because I only use cast ($$) ones, Allen, James.
