Aside from the holes which may be appealing, there could be issues. I looked through all the photos, but remain none the wiser. The only photo of the whole top has those strange multiple shiny reflections which might be just a trick of the light, but could also indicate some serious warping of the top. Hard to tell.
Edit: it does say in the description, "For parts or not working".
Definitely European. Seems to have a carved top so I’m not particularly bothered about the strange light. It’s not a mandolin though - ths scale length is somewhere just short of 20 inches.

The tailpiece does not appear to be an "off the shelf" item- it looks like a one off that has been hand made. Certain aspects of this instrument make me think of East Germany but that may be just coincidental. We cannot see the tuners but they may be German in origin. I think it is probably an instrument made by an individual luthier rather than a bigger commercial organisation.
The top’s shape does have that bent wood look much like a stylish modern art chair back. The way the top curves up to the fretboard is almost certainly carved.
