Thread: Torn between 2 mandolins. / Eastman serial number question?

Default Torn between 2 mandolins. / Eastman serial number question?

I finally got a Eastman md515 that blew my socks off. First 315 and 515 I had I really liked but this one is something else. I believe it's a 2011. Meanwhile my J Bovier 2014 FT is my current favorite. Not sure which of the 2 has the best tone but I'm kinda digging the neck on the Eastman. It doesn't have as much of a V shape as the Bovier but I think I prefer the larger frets on the Bovier though... ughh what to do!!!

Id like to keep both but gotta sell one. Got to many other irons in the fire at the moment. Does Eastmans serial numbers start with the first 2 numbers being the year?

I'm not sure about the serial numbers, when I bought my MD515 from the classifieds, I sent an email to Eastman and they dated it for me. I upgraded the mandolin for a Northfield with the intention of selling the 515 to help pay for the Northfield but I just can't part with it. I really feel like if I sell it, I'll always feel like that was the one that got away.

Yea I know that feeling. Wish I had a few guitars back that I've sold.

Keep both mandolins and sell the dog!

What? No dog? Sell the Bovier and refret the Eastman with larger frets.

Larger frets are the ticket on the Eastman mandolins. They really come to life.

I went up 1 size on a refret. EVO. Like the color and the larger wire.

How have you tweaked your 615? How you like it? How does it compare to the Silverangel ? Thx
