    Default New here and new Tenor Guitar

    Greetings,

    This is my first post here. I have not played guitar or mandolin much in the last ten years because of arthritis in my left wrist. I took up the ukulele when I was 9 and go reinterested in 2009. The ukulele has been my main instrument since 2009 but I missed having something in a lower register. I picked up a tenor guitar and settled on octave mandolin tuning GDAE. The tenor seems to work out for my wrist, having fun playing a new instrument.
    My wife and I do music together but it will be nice to be able to play with the rest of the band in person soon.

    oooh the slippery slope begins I have six tenor guitars.... it'll happen ha ha

    Mine are all tuned in variants of GDAE (favs are GDAD, GDGD), some are pure electric, a couple are acoustic.

    the At-40 is a great starter tenor in fact - it'll last you a while so hardly "beginner"!

    Welcome!
    I am trying to resist "Tenor Acquisition Syndrome". This tenor is good enough for me to work with. My wife and I have an unwritten rule that we can only own as many
    instruments as we can squeeze into the closet in her office and it is overflowing. I must admit that after playing mostly ukulele for the last 12 years the frets on the tenor seem like a reach and I could imagine a smaller scale tenor and of course it would be nice to have one tuned in fourths...

    @88keys - Thanks

    I swapped my tenor over to GDAE too, and that instrument has a whole new life. I'm really enjoying playing it now, after years of intermittent interest with CGDA tuning. Welcome to the Cafe Tug!
