Default Joachim & Ry Cooder video

Very recent video with Ry playing what looks like an electric bouzouki, and Joachim playing his electric mbira(Start at about 34:39)

Amythyst Kiah is also on this concert video.

There's another such pairing starting just before 21:00. Also, Ry plays a mandolin banjo, earlier, around the 16:00 mark.

    Good to see them play.
I saw them about 3 years ago in Amsterdam, touring Ry's album The Prodigal Son. Joachim did a short opening set.

Ry will be 74 next week (15th March).

Ry Cooder is an international treasure. He need never have done anything more than this. Though of course he's done so much more ...

    Fair point.

His son isn't too bad, either. Does a fine job on that...whatever the h*ll that thing is....

Love that last piece they did with the loops.

Electric mbira? OK ... Also, there's that electric 3-D kalimba ...

The last number, "Morning Blues," is a wonderful song. I fondly remember the lilting, loping way Kweskin et al did it so many years ago.

Apparently originally recorded by Uncle Dave Macon and Sam McGee. in 1926.

Hey thanks a lot for the Fretboard Journal podcast, Dagger. I’m going to interview Joachim about his Uncle Dave Macon project on my radio show, and there’s some really good background there for me to chew on.

    Great stuff. Great groove.

That's an old looking 74, Mr Cooder is. I hope his health is good. A lot of music left to make.
