Default Myths on the Internet II

Read the beginning and the end of this article. Why do people post such nonsense?

According to several encyclopedic works the word "breakdown" refers to some kind of very lively dance, or to music for such a dance. In Bluegrass the established meaning is simply a very fast instrumental.

Well, in part because anyone with a keyboard can edit things in Wikipedia. So the stump brain with a moronic concept of pretty much anything can add any sort of uninformed opinion they wish. Take Wikipedia with a block of salt really.
    Sorry, end rant.

My kid edited the Bill Monroe Wikipedia article years ago, when it claimed that Doc Watson had been in the Blue Grass Boys. Right out of college, he was able to spot erroneous info in the article, though it's subsequently been cleaned up and set straight. Wiki's a valuable resource in many ways, but far from gospel.

In on-line reference material, a "breakdown" is a supposedly authoritative passage, where the truth entirely breaks down, due to ignorant people posting erroneous information about subjects on which they are totally uninformed...

I wonder, given Ralph’s opening sentence, a more frustrating question.

Why do people RE post such nonsense?
