Default Anyone heard of Micah Bonn? Young player, nice jazz mandolin!

Hi folks, I stumbled upon a video of a young instrumentalist named Micah Bonn, playing a solo arrangement of Bennie Goodman's Sing-Sing-Sing, attempting (and IMO succeeding) to capture rhythm, horn, and drum sections!

I searched the forum and couldn't find any mention of her, so thought I'd share the link to her video. (The video has 23K views, so maybe I'm just late to the party). I believe she's still a teenager - she'll go places!

    Hi,

Thanks for posting. What a great performance! Strange that some fantastic players go completely under the radar. I thought that the other day when I was listening to Grisman’s Tone Poets from 2005 and remembered that the young Eva Scow was on it. She’s another great player that largely goes unrecognised.

    Regards,

She plays well! I like the arrangement as it uses most of the parts from the big band Goodman arrangement...and has a very, very slight "Americana/roots/Bluegrass" accent too.

    I'm thoroughly impressed.
Thanks for bringing her to our attention, mjbee.

She has a bunch of different videos - a multi-instrumentalist. She has a mandolicious version of "Caravan" also:

Stumbled on the same video today and did a search to see if her name was on Mandolin café. What a great video, and I love the happy carefree way in which she plays exclamation.
