It's an unplayed mandolin- it might take a bit of time to "wake up" and get a bit louder. New strings will help. I would be tempted to work hard on it so when the new strings arrive, you will have got into your stride!

I'm waiting for the new strings to arrive but it will be well played. The next-door neighbours will be thankful it's not as loud as my accordion.

I think with a session like the one you pictured the best you can hope for is a mandolin that allows you to hear your self, no matter how much you spend. The National mentioned above certainly is plenty loud but they are pricey and hard to come by.
