Default New instrument selling platform: Tonefind

    No mandolins listed yet.

    https://tonefind.com/s?pub_categorySearchCodes=110%2C22

The idea here seems to be to build something similar to Reverb with more of an emphasis on trading gear in addition to buying/selling.

Fine print says the seller fee is 3.25% and that the site uses Stripe as a payment platform — I don't know what Stripe fees are like.

I just looked at it on my phone and see nothing at all listed. I will look on my computer later.

Frankly, I would feel better working out trades on the classifieds here than out there in the big bad world.

I bet nobody here sees this as a selling opportunity, rather just one more place to watch for buying/trading opportunities. Unfortunately there is still some of the good stuff out there in that world.

My site uses Stripe — it's 2.9% + $.30 per transaction. So Tonefind is clearing $3.20 on a $1K sale? (I do that right? I just woke up )

Ah, I notice that there's an added "payment processing fee" (of 2.9% + $0.30) — that's for Stripe.

Ignore the above-posted pre-second cup thinking.

I just woke up too but I think for a $1000 transaction the fees would amount to $61.80.

    I agree.

(I hadn't seen the added payment processing fee at the time of writing my first post, so I was deducting Stripe's fee from the website's 3.25% "profit".)

For me, the Cafe is the place to buy, sell, trade. I think this is as safe and inexpensive as it gets, plus a highly-targeted audience. Nah, I'm not going elsewhere to do what I can do here.

Agreed ... the Cafe's 2% fee has the others whupped, and you can't beat the Cafe for mandolin selection.

Funny, ironic and bordering on infuriating that mandolins are listed under "folk instruments." What would Vivaldi say (among others)?

"Cos'è questa scatola luminosa che mi hai dato ?! Dove sono? Ero morto!" - Vivaldi, upon being shown that mandolins are listed under "folk instruments" on tonefind.

Sibelius (the music notation app) lists Mandolin under "European Guitars" (along with Cavaquinho and Requinto).

They are listed under that same category in Shopgoodwill and Guitar Center and probably quite a few other music retailers. On eBay they are under Strings, FWIW.
