Thread: Truss Rod Wrap

    Default Truss Rod Wrap

Is there a best practice WRT wrapping the truss rod? I’ve seen instructions stating slipping a soda straw over the rod, or using heat shrink tubing, or spiral wrapping with teflon or metal tape. Is wrapping really necessary?
    Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. It has to be able to move and if it's glued in its whole length, it can't do its work. I use a soda straw.

I don't wrap or put anything around rods, I just keep the glue off of them.

I use heat-shrink tubing and also try to keep glue away from the rod.

I use straws from Olive Garden.. They fit almost perfectly for the 3/16 steal rod I use when I make my own...
