I have one on a Weber Yellowstone octave, and it suppresses harmonics efficiently and attractively.

I have one and did like it on one of my instruments that was prone to harmonics. But you do have to keep an eye on it. I have (had) almost lost mine many times as it will move the wrong direction on occasion. Now it just sits in its dish and stares at me.

I have two, and like them. It is critical to have the spacing of the screws matched to your string spacing, if it’s off it will move around a bunch, or need to be at an angle.

I only have one string (the D) that's problematic so I just use the little rubber washer thingy.

A piece of leather, or felt, on the tailpiece mutes all the strings, is out of sight, and doesn't have to be put back on after changing strings.

I put a set of the rubber washers on my Eastman 305 and there seemed to be no difference, then I noticed the front edge of the cast tailpiece on that mandolin presses down on the stings and has a layer of rubber under it at that point - is that doing the same job?

Yes, it should be doing the same job.

Have one of the Weber versions on my Weber. The other one that needs the help has leather threaded through the strings.
