Mandolindo

I have just received a Mandolindo from Elderly (Great folks BTW).

It is the rosewood one and I love playing with it, I love the feel of it, size of the neck, tone and all.

My only issue is that when I am playing I get a good bit of resonance, (overtotnes?) from the unplayed strings. the mandolindo has a pin bridge so I can't put those little ruber things on the string behind the bridge or weave a strap of leather.

What would you suggest to cutdown the "other, unplayed string" resonance?

I block strings I don't want to ring with unused parts of the right and left hands (bulbous fingertips on the left - I'm right-handed - have some positive features after all .

I am not a good player, anyway, but I can see that either of these will require a funamental change in the way I address the strings. At first,I thought it was the fault of my hearing aids, then silly me, I realized I didn't even have them on.

You may be overthinking the size of the adjustment to your playing technique. Blunting strings with the heel of your right hand, using a more horizontal angle with your left hand, stuff like that. Try a few adaptations, see what works best, with the least effort mentally and physically. I'm pretty sure that's what it will take - adjusting how you play, not what you play, given modifications seem impossible.
