I've only been trying to learn my way around on mandolin for about a year, played one occasionally bout 40 years ago but guitar kept me busy working jobs.

It's that tone that is so addicting, the mandolin can move any genre into it's own world. So far I've spent most my time on my mandolin playing and figuring out a lot of music of different genres I was so familiar with on guitar. It is a great feeling figuring out the chord structure and melodies to a vast array of music. I love changing tempos moving tunes from one genre to something entirely different, it is a proud accomplishment altho I have noone to share it with but my pups and myself

oh I'll continue working on Limehouse Blues today trying to get it into a moderate swing tempo, got the chords and melody pretty close, now if I can improve my improvising alot.

Those are some fun songs you are working on. Are you figuring out the Eagles music by ear, did you already know it, or do you have music?

I copied a bunch of chord sheets from a bandmate... brought a handful along on vacation last week and was surprised to be able to play through them all on the first try (except Desperado which has a few more chord changes and timing that I need to work on). I already do lead vocals on Lyin’ Eyes during gigs so just needed to see the chords and I was surprised how easy of chords they were.

I’m proud too, starting to actually be able to play commercial music by ear.
    Here’s a lesson I like.

I do Take It Easy with my band. I'm pretty happy with how much better the solo sounds on Mando. Highly recommend.
