    Flawless playing Simon! I'm impressed with how you can keep the drones going through all those triplets. Is that an old Sobel cittern?

    It's a Sobell 10 string mandolin.

    The video is indeed of David A Gordon, one of Scotland's top mandolin players. He has had the 5-course Sobell for a long time and you will see it is fitted with a Mike Vanden (later to become Fishman) pickup. As far as I remember Mike had his workshop up in the north of Scotland at the time. I was lucky enough to try Dagger's mandolin at a kitchen session in Kevin Macleod's home in Achiltibuie a few years back during the Summer Isles Festival, an evening to remember.
