    Default Nmd

Today I spent a delightful hour or so with Brian Farmer, owner of Sun Valley Guitars, our sorta-local MandolinCafe.com sponsor. At the end of our visit, I left my Eastman MD305 with him and walked out with a Collings MT.

Oh my goodness am I over the moon!

    That is all.
Phoebe, my 2021 Collings MT mandolin
Dolly, my 2021 Ibanez M522 mandolin
Louise, my 193x SS Maxwell mandolin
Fiona, My 2021 GSM guitar-bodied octave resonator mandolin
Charlotte, my 2016 Eastman MDO 305 octave mandolin
And Giuliana, my 2002 Hans Schuster 505 violin, Nehenehe, my 2021 Aklot concert ukulele,
Annie, my 2022 Guild M-140 guitar, Joni, my 1963 Harmony 1215 Archtone archtop guitar,
Yoko, my ca. 1963 Yamaha Dynamic No.15 guitar, and Rich, my 1959 husband.

Sheila, just a friendly reminder: there's no such thing as "just looking" when it comes to puppies, kittens, or mandolins.

    That said, enjoy it!

The signature here on the cafe is like a relationship status on facebook, but for mandolins.
Congratulations on the new addition to your signature! I hope you can make beautiful music together.

Congratulations - the Collings will either be a lifetime mandolin, a step on the slippery slope of MAS, or both. Enjoy it in good health and play the snot out of it!

There is absolutely something thrilling about a new mandolin. We share your happiness and enthusiasm, not as neutral onlookers, but with a sincere and synchronized empathy born of our own new mandolin experiences. It is indeed a wonderful thing. Short of getting a new mandolin ourselves, we resort to the contact high we get watching your delight. Enjoy. Enjoy for all of us.

Congrats! Like John said, the Collings can easily be and last mandolin if you so choose. You will have a ton of fun getting to know it and being surprised at what a step up it really is. And I say that liking Eastman instruments.
