Biscuit bridge, I see, as you stated in your other thread. What wood is the top, and where did your builder get the resonator cone?

The tonewood is old deadfall cypress from a swamp in Florida. The sides, back, and neck are maple. The fretboard is cherry. She has a lovely voice.
My builder shared an interesting story with me about the resonator. I quote him here: The secret behind my 8 string resonators is a little known bridge design that dates back to the early 1930's called a Schireson Bro.'s Flywheel bridge.
The standard biscuit bridge commonly used with 4 string ukulele resonators is not sturdy enough to support 8 steel strings, and nobody makes a spider bridge for the 6 inch cone, so I have brought back the vintage flywheel bridge.
The story of the Schireson Brothers resonator is here:

Here are some photos he sent me:

Looks beautiful Sheila - congrats!
Is the body bigger than a mandolin or does it look bigger because of the smaller uke coverplate? I am curious as I have a reso mandolin built for me as well - will be ready soon. Thanks also for sharing the Schireson link, very interesting.

That looks like a NEAT instrument! I’m a resonator guitar nut from way back. Your new acquisition looks like a lot of fun.
So let's hear it, Sheila! I hope it sounds as good as it looks.
