From Eastman, and I absolutely love it! It’s a huge upgrade for me, and it’s perfect. I know some of you all knew that I have been waiting for it, just wanted to update.
It’s beautiful to see, and hear! Gotta work on me now lol...

Thanks y’all! My schedule is totally upside down right now, barely have time just to check in right now. But I’d love to show it off! I promise I’ll get some pics up in the next couple of days.
I’ll say this, the finish, though considered lower tier I think, is actually preferred by me. I think it looks fantastic!
Lol, it happened. I got it, you’ll see.....
Congratulations! I had a cousin (a 305,) and I still have a bigger cousin, an octave 305. They're great instruments and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours. Happy honeymoon!

Congratulations on your 314! Now all you have to do is start obsessing over replacing the tuners, tailpiece and bridge.
Oh and you need to disregard those inexpensive BC picks and go for these....

All kidding aside, enjoy your new Eastman.

You are killing me, Charley. Thank you Jaime.
Earlier in life, I was an outdoorsman. Really big into archery. Compound bows with all of the bells and whistles, high dollar stuff. I remember the days of “keeping up with the Jones” as I fell victim to that like many others. I spent way too much money over and over, annually many times. Then one day I realized that I was shooting just as good with a $120 bow that a man in Colorado handmade for me....
I bet if I could get Brad Laird or many of my good Cafe friends over to my house to play this mandolin.... we’d realize that the Eastman has really good tuners that hold their tune exceptionally well this first week, a great looking/functional tailpiece, and a wonderful bridge.
This mandolin is only lacking in one area.... it’s daily player. That’s the upgrade that I am working on.....
That looks awesome!
Thanks, NDO. It really is. It’s darker than the pic shows, I need to work on better pics. I love the “classic look” without the gloss..
A few years ago I had a 315 and a 314 and liked them both very much. Just for fun, I hot-rodded the 315, Cumberland Acoustic african blackwood bridge (custom made by Steve with wood I sent him), Allen tailpiece and Grover tuners. I also did a speedneck and made an armrest for it. It played and sounded great. The 314 I left stock. It played and sounded great. The only reason I sold them was to help fund the purchase of my Girouard F-5.

I remember reading about your upgrades when I was searching the archives, well done indeed.
I’m not saying I’ll never upgrade. Actually, I really hope that I get to a point where I feel like I need to. I was just pleasantly surprised by this 314, buying before ever seeing, let alone playing.
Looks very nice, now it's time to start having FUN with it!
It's probably got a cast alloy tailpiece (recent OEM upgrade to 300 series Eastmans). The tuners might be a no-brainer replacement unless they've upgraded (Eastman seem to be quite responsive to comment, so you never know), and bridge replacement seems to be 'some Eastman OEM bridges can be improved, some are fine'.
I bet a meteorite pick lets you play Really fast!
Oh no no no, I am so DONE buying picks. I would be embarrassed to admit how much money I have spent on picks the last few months. I am being serious...
I’m glad I got a Gravity Gold Tripp 1.5! Couldn’t be happier...
I see an Apollo casein coming as a Fathers Day gift....
You mean a $325 meteorite pick won't make me play faster than all those good guys? I'm shocked!
That is a great looking F4 mandolin! Looks great paired with that strap, too! Enjoy!

Ya, that Lakota strap is awesome looking, and I can’t believe how good it feels. I also had a rosewood armrest on it from CA. The wood grain wasn’t matching very well, so I’m now waiting on an Ebony one...
Should look better, matching the bridge and headstock
Nice looking F4! Hope you enjoy it.
Let's hear it....
