I paid $4000 for my Mix F5 used in 2013. Not sure what its resale value is now, but $5000 would certainly be tempting. I play 5 string now almost exclusively.

I gigged the Mix F5 for several years (the last gig it appeared in was in late 2018). There are a couple of bumps and I had to replace the tuners.

Took my A5 Mix to a sidewalk Jam with 2 old friends on front of what was the last semblance of a Music store in town .
that was having a every thing must go closing the store due to lease unaffordability cost demands ..

It was windy, damp & frigid marine climate, but It never went out of tune ..

Nope. I remember it too. But he was a self-builder hobbyist who had made a bowlback. I wish I could remember his name. He's French and lives here in teh south somewhere...

I recently had to do a repair job of a carbon fibre lute. It sounded OK but something was missing compared to a wooden one. The body and neck were carbon fibre, the soundboard, fingerboard and pegbox wood.

Most difficult part for me was that it was originally built with superglue which made the repair way more difficult. I put it back together with hide glue.

There is, of course, the carbon fiber bowlback builder in Portugal discussed a few years ago and appears to still be in business but I think it's probably not the one mentioned above. Ava Strings.

I checked out that synergy site and they don't have that mandolin listed on it. They have Uke's and a couple of electric guitars but no mandolin. Is that a prototype of a carbon mandolin they're going to make for sale in the future?

Summer 2012 was really cool and wet in the UK, and my Vessel F5 decided it wanted to adjust rather significantly after arriving from California. So I bought the Mix F5. In November that year, I played a short set solo gig on the back of the flatbed lorry in misty freezing rain. Lots of other performers had all kinds of issues with their guitars, etc. But my Mix didn't budge. I knew I had made exactly the right choice.

(My Vessel just needed to settle in and then get a set-up. AJ Lucas was brilliant, and I was able to gig with it again afterward. I had and continue to have the luxury of saving it for non-amplified and and indoor gigs.)

At the bottom of their home page there are photos of the mandolins embedded as Instagram posts and if you click them it explains they are prototypes.
